The Diversity Deficit: Narrowing Global Perspectives in AI
At the heart of technological colonialism in AI lies a critical issue that amplifies its effects: the stark lack of diversity within the teams developing these groundbreaking technologies. Despite its global impact, the field of AI is predominantly shaped by a narrow demographic—primarily white Western men and Chinese men. This homogeneity in the AI workforce has far-reaching consequences, effectively filtering the vast potential of AI through a limited cultural and experiential lens.
